The second race at Mallory took place later the same day, and with only one win to his name this season, Myatt was looking to finish the season with another. Technically he was already champion after finishing 2nd in race 1, scoring himself 90 points, and putting him mathematically beyond Andy Smith, who was only able to take 60 points.
Several cars changed drivers for the second race. Neil Thompson made way for wife Christine in car 24 (Stinky). Steve Panas took over Wayne Cowling's number 2 Gadget Racing car. Pete Sparrow jumped into Christian Callandar's Clockwork Orange #14 car. 'Mad' Pete Cardell-Williams hopped into Andy Smith's #13. John-Paul Wilkinson took over Rambo (#26) from Graham Harper, and Frank Barnard stepped in to replace Nigel Hollis at the wheel of Wee Fiona, the 3rd Hollis Motorsport #70 car.

As the competitors arrived at a sunny Mallory Park in Leicestershire, Phil Myatt had a healthy 123 point lead over 2nd place man Andy Smith, with Matt Riley and Mark Turner 180 and 185 points down on Myatt respectively. With 100 points on offer for a win, and two races on the Sunday, it wasn't really time for Phil to relax!
Mallory also saw a welcome return for "Wee Fiona" - one of the oldest cars racing in the championship. Recently repainted in the Hollis Motorsport colours (their 3rd car) it was piloted by Nigel Hollis in race one, and Frank Barnard in race two, carrying the number 70.

Race two started with Phil Myatt in pole position, complete with pink wheels on the front of the car, and blue wheels on the back. Paul Robertson later explained that these were borrowed from Zoe's car, but personally I think Phil was just showing his soft side. The skies were overcast, it was noticably colder than the first race, and the race meeting was running nearly an hour late after a series of red flag incidents in the other races of the day. The 2CV races were later commended by the circuit commentators for providing close action without the need for the organisers to bring out the red flags!

Despite dire forecasts of rain all weekend, the sun was shining over the picturesque circuit of Oulton Park, as the 2CV championship headed into Cheshire for races 5 and 6.
Most went through qualifying without problem, but Aubrey Brocklebank experienced some battery charging issues and didn't qualify in the second session. Trevor Williams also had reduced running in session 1, completing only 3 laps, and didn't take part in session 2 at all.

Race 2 got underway towards the end of the race meeting. The track was a little damp, but conditions were dry. There was a touch of diesel down at Hatchets Hairpin (although some would say it was everywhere!) from the truck races earlier in the day. Pete Cardell-Williams started the race in pole, and Darren Baker didn't make the start - his car coasting to a halt on the green flag lap just past Brooklands.
Gary Byatt and Steve Panas made very good starts, but Pete Cardell-Williams (PCW) was the one leading the pack into Hatchets. Panas and Mark Turner were battling. The order on the 1st lap was PCW, Panas, Turner, Riley, R Hollis, Myatt, Wheeler, Byatt, Fritchley.
