Title: The 2011 Matchmaking Thread
Post by: Forter on October 27, 2010, 10:55:11
Hello

I m desperate to drive in 2011, so wanted to register early as for the last 2 years of wanting to do it I ve left it to late.  I have no 2CV race experience, but do hold my National B race licence and raced In Lotus Elise's previously but still a novice.  Several 100 hours of trackday expereince as well.

I would like to put forward a team, and race with a 2-3 colleagues.  However this would be car availability/cost dependant and if not sensible or viable for the other guys I d be seeking a sole seat for myself in a team if one was available.

Thank you James Melhuish

Somewhere between £6000 to £8000 for a managed car including entry , fuel dependent on what else is included(damage, cateringany extra testing etc). Now is the time to try and organise if you want a competive car .The later you leave it the better cars will be taken.

Am also looking for a competitve drive. Have raced the 2CV 24hr twice before with Stinky (2003) and a last minute entry in Christian Callandars car in 2009, always quick and consistent.
Also raced in 4 Britcar 24hr races and Nurburging 24Hr twice. 65kgs and 5'8".

Team Fine Print
Edd Straw of Autosport who's been driving with us for 8 years, has had to stand down this year. So we have a seat available for an experienced 2CV racer.
The team has done the race for over 10 years and is well equipped. Strong mechanics team and pit crew, well tuned chassis, four engines, etc. Two years ago we were near fastest lap and finished 3rd. Cost is a heavily subsidised £1000 as one of four drivers.
Call Martin on 07973 303982 to discuss.

Sorry, but the TFP drive has now been taken up by Mike Fox. His Asquith Bros engineering company designed and built the F Ford VITA in the 70's. And he's still quick!

Hello,

Myself and a friend are looking for a seat each in the 2CV 24 Hr race. It would be ideal to be in the same team but I realise it's probably a bit late / unlikely anyway. Separate teams OK - main thing is to have fun.

We both have quite a bit of experience in different cars and reasonable motor sport CVs. I did the race in 2008 (Crusader Vans). Came dead last but had great fun and was invited back by them for 2009 but been unable to make it since.

Anyone with seat(s) available please let me know - email to [email protected]

Many thanks

Matthew Smith

Title: Looking for drivers
Post by: Keller Jim on July 15, 2011, 21:43:51
We are a rookie team, but due to some bad luck and inepititude, we are seeking 2 drivers to join our team, Keller.

We cannot vouch for how competitive we will be, but are looking to finish and enjoy the experience.

We are not selling a seat but would look for a contribution towards the entry fee and fuel.

Please post back if of interest.

Jim

We still have one remaining seat cost is £1500, includes fuel and day membership to the club if its needed, in fact pretty much everything inclusive except getting the the race, your own food and any damage caused to the car (can explain more if needed), the only extra should you require is a team t-shirt and or cap but only of you want one.  Anyone seriously interested please email me [email protected].

i can't believe how much you lot want to charge for a drive in the 24hrs
we are an experienced team that ussually don't do too bad and i don't have
a driver that pays more than £1000-00. if they do it's because of a stupid amount of damage.
in 12 years of doing 24hrs iv'e only had 1 person pay over.
we may still be interested in 1 more driver.
you will need to be good, quick, careful, and do as you are told.
if you think you may be this person give me a ring.
my number is 07768441094.
the cost is 1k approx. this depends on damage, but includes food all weekend and a fully crewed front running car.
oh the other thing is you will need to be up to speed on your eating and drinking, cos we do like to
get a bit pissed and eat well.
if there is anyone still looking give me a ring.
i would really like someone used to a 2cv
cheers gadget

Work out the true cost wayne, especially if you are relying on others to prep the car.not just the entry ,fuel ,tyres food etc,but the cost of prep and the cost of repair, the cost of building/rebuiding at least two engines ,rolling roading them.getting from the other end of the country with everything .Not much change ,if any ,out of £6000 in reality

I suddenly find that I have 2 spaces in my driver line-up! Anyone interested? It's not the fastest car in the world but it's reliable (finished 10th last year); 24hr novices welcome.

Just do what Sean says....!

I agree with Paul. :o

Wayne has failed to take in to account all the 'incidental costs'. Those Zinger Tower Burger Large Meals and Pints of Stella dont buy themselves!

I only work half days but I must go through £20 a day in Brake and Clutch cleaner and latex gloves, and that is before I get anywhere near the car. The cost of cardboard is also going through the roof and you even have to put the holes for bolts in it yourself!
