Stingray 2008 Classic 2CV 24 Hour Race
To take place at Snetterton Circuit, Norfolk on the weekend of 8th/9th/10th August 2008.

Thursday
Garages will be available from 6pm onwards. Arrival is recommended from possibly mid afternoon to enable setup of support vehicles within the paddock space. Trailers are generally stored adjacent to the circuit holding area as space within the paddock can be at a premium. There are several grassed areas which have been sucessful for those wishing to camp. The garages should be clean when you arrive and should be clean when you depart. You will be asked for a £20 deposit for the garage key. If there is any damage or it is left unclean you may well not be entitled to a refund. There are 13 seperate double garages. It is likely that the entry will be in the region of 30-36. This means that the norm is going to be three per garage. Please nominate later in this information pack who and where you would like to share with.

Friday

Testing
Signing on at the circuit office. A list of all entrants should be there. MSV will need to see your MSA license here.
Times for testing will be given here also. Four sessions of 30 minutes each for the day. Two in the morning and two in the afternoon. These should be split by about 60 minutes each session to enable any changes to cars etc.

Signing On.
This will be at the office below race control. It would be in everybody's interest to get these formalities out of the way during the afternoon.  The organisers have to check all documents for up to 140 drivers. This could take almost two hours so ensure you have the necessary cards etc.
They will be checking your MSA licence, BARC membership [or day membership] and 2CV Racing Club membership. The costs of these are £25 for BARC and £15 for 2CV Club membership.

Scrutineering
This has to take place before the first qualifying session. The scrutineers have always come to the garages in the past and we believe this will be the case in August.
Please have all necessary signing on documents and racing kit available from 6pm onwards. They will have to scrutineer over thirty cars in a short period of time. If you, your drivers and the car are not ready when the scrutineer arrives he will move on to another car and leave you until last. You CANNOT take your car onto the track with first being scrutineered.

Qualifying
Qualifying is to take place on the Friday evening for both day and night sessions. At the moment the times haven't been confirmed by BARC but are upon the lines of 7.30 until 9pm. The night session of approximately one hour is likely to be 10pm until 11pm. Both sessions will be timed and all drivers competing in the race MUST complete three laps in both sessions. It is worth remembering that for a four driver team it will take almost forty five minutes for that team to qualify the drivers. All drivers would be  doing an out lap then three laps and then the in lap. The night session is also a good time to fine tune the lighting system.

Fuel
Fuel is available from the circuit garage at whatever price they deem reasonable!! Prior to the race any fuel drawn will have to be paid for as you use it. A member of your team will have to before the race begins arrange an account with the fuel station. In the past the fuel station takes the details of a debit/credit card for payment afterwards. A  numbered card is issued and must be taken whenever fuel is required. This will be only dispensed into your scrutineered 20 litre jerry can. Decanting, moving fuel from one container to another, anywhere on the circuit is not allowed. If seen it will lead to to your exclusion from the meeting.
Only one fuel can per car is allowed within the garage during the race.

Saturday

A full day of racing will take place but sadly for us just to watch and relax. There will be an untimed practice session for 2CV's around lunchtime. This is likely to be about thirty minutes duration. The exact time is vague as it has to be fitted in around the racing but should come with the final instructions. The days racing should finish about 5pm. You should be ready to race by this time. In the past the grid is called 30 minutes before the start to form. When called drive out of the pitlane and around the track to the start grid. This is done in no formal order as the cars are sorted as they arrive. The pitlane will close with 15 minutes to go. If you don't make this deadline you will have to start from the pitlane.

Driver Briefing
There will be one that all drivers must attend. The time of this will be announced on the day so listen out for the announcement. Team managers will also be required to attend if there is no alternative meeting organised for them.

Start
The race will commence at 6pm and as you are probably aware it runs for the next 24 hours!!.

Post Race
At about 6.30pm at the podium close to race control awards for the top six finishers will take place. Food will be served close to Tyrells from about 7.15pm. Anybody who is still at the track is welcome whether driver or team or marshalls. We will have a collection for the marshalls at this time. Remember that without these guys we would not be racing so buy them a drink and talk to them. The bar will probably be open whilst there is demand. Removal and clearing of garages has been organised with MSV for the Monday morning so no big panic straight after the race unless you are leaving that evening.

Entry
As stated before the price of £1720 includes use of the garage from Friday night until Monday morning. Testing of 4 x 30minute sessions on Friday is also included. Several incentives for an early entry are available. [More elsewhere]. Your garage selection is linked to the speed of entry.
A deposit of £400 or full payment is required to book a grid slot. The complete fee is to be paid no later than Monday 16th June. Cheques made payable to the "Classic 2CV Racing Club" and sent to Steve Panas, Manor Cottage, Church Lane, Welburn. York. YO60 7EG. Payment can be made by credit card by ringing me on 01757-210210. This is subject to a 4% surcharge. Do not send any payments or entry forms to BARC unless they instruct you to do so.

Why the late start? Is it to allow more support races and thus reduce the cost?

Steve Panas

Previously the race was over the Bank Holiday. Our August date is not so BARC/MSV require a full days racing to subsidise our race to an extent
