Live TV from racing at Mallory Park - May 15

This unique live televised club race meeting should be announced formally in 'Motorsport News' next Wednesday.
The editor there, Matt James (famous now for being able to talk about absolutely nothing during six hours of fog, with Alan Hyde, Lewis Beales, etc) is a friend of the club and I'm told may include a pic of a racing 2CV in the mention.
Out of the £300 each car will pay to race, the event organisers have to pay the normal circuit hire and race organisation costs, being handled by Ian Watson at BARC. They probably don't get the gate money. Then, they have to pay all the costs of the TV presentation and production, which is being done by HayFisher. They will be using some clever kit they own, which links the cameras to the production truck by radio rather than cable, which significantly brings down the costs. But it still ain't cheap. The live feed to Motors TV is provided at no cost, which is the norm nowadays. They are also chucking in free food and some other goodies.
To keep the event interesting for viewers and to maximise the organisers revenue, the race lengths will be a bit shorter than drivers would normally get for the race fee. However, you'll be able to tell all your relies and mates to watch you live on Motors TV, which I don't think has ever happened before for 2CV's. The club retains the car sticker rights and the naming rights for our races. If we can persuade a sponsor to come on board, then some of the fee will be used to offer a rebate to entrants.
It's important that we get 30 cars onto our grid, for the organiser needs the revenue. They've got, I think, seven other series there, including Kent FF, Kumho BMW, Caterhams (red flag, anyone?), etc. By my estimation, they'll be lucky to come out even slightly ahead of break-even. They really do want 2CV's on the grid, but if there is a significant shortfall in our numbers, then they'll be less keen to ask us to participate in possible future events.
I don't think the club has set up a system for the entries yet, so I it would be helpful if people put a note on here if they expect to be entering. Nothing formal at this stage.

Team Fine Print,
car 97. Driver, Carl Breeze
We should also have a spare Paul Robertson engine available that w/e, so if any newbie team is wanting to race but is short of a good engine or wants a bit of support in the paddock, then we'll we happy to buddy them.
I hope that other teams with good resources might feel able to buddy a car that needs some support.
This race meeting with live TV is a bold venture by the organisers and is a great promotional opportunity for Classic 2CV Racing. Let's fill that grid.

To be honest, I'm not sure it's worth it given the lack of track time, but as it seems the majority are in favour, I wouldn't want to be the one who causes it not to happen

Rosberg? Yes he has, apparently. How come he's German? His dad's Finnish.
Oh, that one....forgot about him. Hope he doesn't.

Are we racing before the Caterhams? I think we should. Do the TV people know what they were like this year?

14 provisional entries so far, which is very encouraging at this eary stage. Only 16 more needed.
Lien - there has been a mention of 'special regs' for the event. I guess they might include no re-starts if a race is red flagged and arrangements for speedy track clearance.
