Board been busy discussing various options with BARC and also Hay Fisher/ Motors TV live races.
I have posted on the 24 Hour thread details of the 24 Hour race which is expected to be 24-26 August at Snetterton.

2012 was a successful season with higher numbers than in recent years. The Club is proposing to give a reduced price in 2013 for those who raced in 2012 to reflect this.

Sprints 2013 (Draft)

Sprint Championship Races:

2 x 20 Minute Races per meeting:

April 6            Oulton Park
April 27-28      Croft
June 8-9         Silverstone
July 27-28       Brands Hatch

Note: there is an alternative proposal to run the April 6 meeting at Donnigton as a Championship round (2 x 20 minute races) with one race to be broadcast live on Motors TV. We would welcome some comment on this option and which location members would prefer as it may be a little more expensive to the club than running at Oulton.

Prices:

a) Pay in advance by1 March 2013 for all 4 race meetings £ 1200 (a discount of £ 240 to entering all the races individually)
b) 2012 Success Bonus – a Special bonus of a £ 50 discount per race meeting may be claimed for the car/ owner in 2012 claimed alongside the Pay in Advance Option = a maximum £200 discount
entry becomes £ 1000 for the whole season (£ 250 per race meeting) for those complying with a and b above.

c) one off races charged at  £ 360. All 4 on this basis = £ 1440
d) for one off race entries a 2012 Success Bonus discount of £ 50 may be claimed against a race meeting entered in 2012. This will not be available for the Donnington Meeting if that option is chosen (its more expensive for the Club).

Further Bonus:
For every Sprint Championship Race Entered in 2013 then a £ 50 discount can be claimed against the final entry price (which will be payable August 1 2013) for the same car in the 2013 24 Hour Race.

Non Championship Race

Motors TV are offering a slot again for the club on their May Bank Holiday Live TV show. This has had some very close and exciting racing in the last 3 years. Due to the TV pressure it cannot be in the same format as for the Sprint series.
So the Club has agreed with the promoters to add a Non Championship Round on May 27. This will be either 2 x 10 Minute races or a 30 Minute 2 driver race. We would welcome comment as to which format members would prefer.

The price for the race will be £ 330 per car and this price allows for 2 drivers.

Nick:

Thanks for issuing the draft schedule in good time.

I think that Mallory is a much better venue for the Motors TV Live race than Donington, short sharp and lots of action. We'd enter two cars at Mallory, in whichever format is agreed.

I may be being thick, but I don't see why it was a Championship round this year and and can't be in 2013. Yes, some people aren't too keen on the shorter race, but a very good field was tempted to enter and race hard, possiby by the thought of getting famous on the telly.

The aim for the year is to have 4 x race Sprint meetings + the 24 Hour. Each Sprint meeting to have 2 x 20 minute races and separate qualifying of at least 15 minutes each. To further deliver this for members and racers who support all the Sprint races for around £ 1000 for a year and to allow 2 drivers for each car for a weekend if required.

Donnington could be a Championship round as an alternative to Oulton on April 6. While it is more expensive as a race meeting the organisers of the Motors TV events at Donnington have managed to keep the format correct so it can be within the Championship. The Club further can absorb some of the potential extra costs so that we can still offer great value for money for those doing the whole season if the members would prefer to race at Donnington to Oulton and have one race on the TV and eventually youtube etc. Club benefits in that we have some high quality footage we can use.

Mallory is non championship as (a) it is not (and HF say cannot be) in the right format of 2 x 20 minutes (b) its considerably more expensive than a BARC normal meeting and (c) we already had 4 rounds available. We are proposing to offer it as an extra event however for the prices and on the date in the original post.

Nick, when you say £360 a race does this cover the two races at Silverstone and Brands, i.e the meeting as a whole, or does each race cost that?

Mick Storey

Personally, I would like to go to Donnington as we havent raced there for ages
For the telly at Mallory I cant see them accepting anything other than the 10 minute format. With most audiences having the attention span of a goldfish (is 8 minutes the norm?) then 30 minutes of 2Cv racing even with a driver change where the changing driver has to eat camel dung is going to look relatively boring. Every time weve been on the telly its been a good race and got some attention, shouldnt we keep the same format?

Nick Roads

Frank

Its £ 360 per Championship race meeting eg 2 x 15 minute qualifying and then 2 x 20 minute races for any Championship meeting. So 2 drivers can do different races at, say, Silverstone meeting and split the cost so £ 180 per race.

Matthew Hollis

I would also prefer Donington over Oulton, as it makes a nice change! Plus, it's another chance to appear on the TV, which is good for the club.

For Mallory, it has to be the 10 minute sprints, 30 minutes around there will seem very boring to the TV viewers, like Mick says.  Shame it can't be a championship round, though I do always feel a little short changed paying the same price as all the other rounds but only getting half the running, so non-championship is fine I think.

i'm afraid i disagree with those who think the mallory event will only be interesting for viewers if it is 2 ten minute sprints.
what could be more compulsive viewing than cars steaming into the pit lane, drivers being hauled out, someone else trying to get in in double quick time, cameras showing people fumbling about with belts etc and cars screaming out of the pits.they will then be glued to the tv to find out who is then in the lead after all the maymeh of the driver change section.i think it would make brilliant viewing, especially if the cameras see sammie get out and paul threading himself in,or mr burns get out and his daughter get in.
even better would be pole position peter rundle coming in and then not letting his father get in,they'd have a big argument in the pit lane ,peter would get out and stamp his feet, argue that lien should get in all while merv is drawing up the legal documents for not getting his drive. oh and then not lets forget a bit of car smashing up, we've got to organise that. it always goes down well with the viewing public.oh actually, i think that even though i'm not anything to do with the organising,i should be able to sort that one out.
TGR has some more than capable drivers based on our chequered history at this event.i have even not booked in anything in the workshop the following 2 weeks, just in case.
i also like the idea of doing donnington as well, even if it's just to get phil out of his comfort zone!
well done to all involved in sorting the meetings for next year. if we get brands as well it bodes well for an interesting line up of circuits
and a good years racing.keep up the good work.
merry christmas to one and all,see you on the grid next year.

Excuse my stupidity but where will the non-Championship race on 27 May 2013 be held?  Mallory Park?  Please could you clarify this?

Thanks.
