Darren had to leave early to make sure he was home before it got dark.................

Nonsense! He can see fine in the dark without headlights :D

Bas

Yes it seems that the problem is with looking left......... Those neck braces can be a bugger...... Mind a comedy act on the pit wall in the early hours did amuse many.... When the right switch was found the pit lane marshals gave a cheer bigger than us............. Never before  have so  many people tried so hard to give a pit signal..... We took shifts.... Improvised.... Even shouted .......  :D

We all thought he would be escorted off the island when they got him in!

On a more serious note though, it goes to show that it is difficult to see whats being shown to you even if you do look. I couldn't see our pit board at night because of the bright lights behind it.
So, can i make a suggestion?
How about a back lit board, projector on to a board to a dot matrix display? we need to sort this before next year otherwise someone may be in proper trouble.
I have no idea who should pay for this? us? Anglesey? BARC? anyone know.
What ever it is, it will need to be tested prior. Bully, this has got your name all over it mate.
The older I get, the more rubbish I talk

I might be able to help with light sources. What do Le Mans do to show black flags at night-time?

Louis

I guess they must radio it out to the cars? I take it they have in car comms?

We have a caravan light above our pit board that shines down onto it, that worked for me. Having said that Paul had a really bright head torch shine at his board!

Alec Graham

We  have a lovely lap board! It's the only area where we still seem to be vaguely in front!

On the subject of lighting could I suggest (politely) that as many cars as possible light up their numbers at night?  The mini 77 did it in style and it was so useful.

Bas

If only we could have borrowed it Alec........ Darren could have not seen it....... Just like he did everything else........ And yes Suzanne no77's idea of lighting the number was commented upon many times..... Simple  but effective...... Like many of us....

More lights/reflective stuff in general. Having taken night shots for many years, the reason I've put so many reflective bling on Stinky and Herbee is that otherwise even with a flash all you see is a couple of headlights and a number square. I'd love to see more cars with shiny bits.

We did have a backlit pit board. Forget the tecnnical term for them, but I saw one at a classic car show before last year and had to have one. Ebay etc have them in various sizes.

Blueberry Tart ;)
