24 Hour - Friday drive-around confirmed

It has been confirmed that the proposed drive-around will take place late on Friday afternoon of the 24 Hour weekend. It will be after the conclusion of testing and before BARC qualifying.

Sign-on will be in the café from 16.30. Start should be around 17.30, for about 30 minutes. Cost is £10, cash, per car.

Most road cars can participate plus cars entered in the 24 hour if they wish. It will be paced, so not too fast and helmets not required.

oh I was hoping this would be a track session like we had last year

Keith:

Great to read of your support for the C1 trial. The views of marshals are always very interesting, and we a,ways welcome any feedback.

Sadly, no track session could be fitted in this year, given the very tight schedule to fit everything into effectively two very, very, long days. We hope you will make do with the drive-around session.

Do you want me to travel in a pace car to get some tracking photos?  They have proved popular in previous years.

Suzanne:
Thanks for the reminder. If you are on-site Friday, we might try to do some tracking by interrupting testing for 15 minutes.

Our plan is to arrive on Thursday afternoon and get set up. Then we will be seeing family and then I will be onsite from sometime in Friday afternoon. We need to check the weather forecast too. Perhaps we should have a chat before then.

Teams who are keen need to indicate their interest. The cars and one driver is all that is needed - I usually ask for an experienced driver who knows the circuit (especially after Snetterton!).

Will the C1s and Belgians want to participate in the main tracking session or will they want their own one? I will see when Russ Hunter is arriving and see if he will be the chauffeur for the tracking session. We may need to borrow a pace vehicle, if Russ can't do it, then is anybody willing to drive me around?

The two jelly snakes would be interested in tracking shots!!!!!

Tracking shots really require a fair bit of organisation and some luck to get right. And good weather helps.

I'll check with track control. Lunch time Friday would be good, but a bit early for you. Or at 17.00 when testing ends. Problem then is teams will be prepping for daytime qualifying.

And Adam Lines would probably want to be in the camera car. And we'd want two groups. First would be all 602's. Then another with a mixture of all four classes.

And then the commentators would probably like a video recording to play out during the night.

Frankly a bit of a nightmare.

Ideas welcome, and I'll be in our garage, 7/8, to talk.
