Do I sense a tad of unsigned disquiet about the Snet entry fee ?
Yes, it is a bit higher than last year, but at £52 per racing hour on track, it is still great value. And you get all of the Friday evening testing and qualifying on top at no extra cost.
The books are wide open and if anyone wishes to see where the money goes, then they are free to look.
We are trying to optimise revenue for the club - hence the Fast Laps during Saturday lunch hour.
Jamie Hopper and Jonathan Palmer are both right behind our event - but they do reasonably expect us to deliver a full grid and the nicest possible presentation. They are investing in quite a lot of work to make Snet nicer for racers and spectators - for instance, later in '04, spectators will be able to watch from the outside of Sear for the first time ever. They see increasing the spectator numbers as key to the future of racing.
For our race, people can still buy a weekend spectator / paddock / camping pass for £10 on the gate, which is great value, or in advance at 10 for £50, which is truly astonishing value. So, encourage everyone you can to come along.
We are doing everythig we can with almost zero budget to promote the 24 hr race. It looks like the new Club Autosport editor, Edd Staw will be in the race, which can only be good for all of us.
So as Pete says, let's put the whinging behind us and all work together, for the Series and the 24 hr. Ideas and initiatives welcome on all fronts.
See you at Oulton. Martin H
