Matthew Hollis

With no dinner dance in 2020 (thanks a lot covid) as you know we managed to present some of the trophies at Mallory Park, but there are a number still to be decided. In two weeks time I will post the winners of each trophy and shortly after will be in touch with each winner to discuss getting the trophy to them if they don't already have it, but for now please take a few minutes to cast your vote for the Driver of the Year 2020. This consists of the drivers who won Driver of the Day at the sprint race meetings, plus two wildcards (there are less candidates due to the shortened season). See below for details about why each driver should win and use the poll to cast your vote. One vote per forum user, and the vote closes on Saturday 23rd January. Good luck to all!

MICK STOREY – Unsure whether he was going to compete in 2020, Mick made the trip to Cadwell Park with low expectations but ended up with a podium finish, not to mention a fight through the field that resulted in 4th place in race 1. Equally strong performances at Mallory Park left Mick in 4th overall, just missing out on a top 3 championship finish by 3 points.

NICK ROADS – Despite not competing at Cadwell Park, Nick finished the year in 8th place after podium finishes in the 3 races he did compete in. 2nd at the 24hr race was followed by another runner up spot at Mallory Park in race 1 after battling with Pete Sparrow all race, with 3rd place and fastest lap in race 2 cementing his top 10 championship finish.

ALEC GRAHAM – After taking his first championship crown in 2012, Alec had to wait another 8 years before taking his second, but it was done in emphatic style, leading from the front at Cadwell Park. With the pressure on at Mallory Park it looked as though things might go wrong after a difficult first race but he put in a spectacular performance in race 2 to take 2nd place and with it the championship title.

GLENN OSWIN – Glenn had arguably his best season in 2020, running consistently towards the front and particularly at Mallory Park fighting for podium places. Two 5th places were enough to secure 6th overall, one of his best ever championship finishes and only 18 points away from the top 3.
