This does seem to be getting some good discussion going, wel in advance of the AGM, which was the objective of posting the original message.

What I think everyone should think about is that by making the cam free - but a Citroen cam, then a newcomer to the grid could fit safety kit into a road car and go racing (well - almost). All new racers start at the back of the grid - then they invest time and money in moving themselves up the grid as far as suits them. There are a lot of cars, mostly in the 24hr, who just go racing for the fun of it - with no prospect of a high placing. Our team had as much fun and satisfaction finishing 26th or whatever this year as Phil and his crew did in winning it.

Ask yourselves - how many new cars/teams/drivers have joined the grid this year ? Also, why are so many race cars not racing ths year. It would seem that the overall 2CV racing package is no longer as attractive as it was.

In a vain attempt to level the field, we've forgotten the new guy - the life blood of any sport. Keep everything as simple as possible, keep it as cheap as possible. Much too much Club time is spent worrying about a very few teams at the front who seem willing to invest a lot of time and money, and too little time is spent looking at ways to encourage new cars onto the back of the grid.

See you at Pembrey. MH
