I think that the regs should have minimal interference this season. Lets give people a chance to catch up and learn about the technical changes that have been brought about. It appears that (I shall try to prove this) towards the end of this season, the racing has closed up. More cars fighting for the lead, the championship is going down to the last race, and third place in the championship is wide open.

There is one fundamental that i thik we must not forget. 4-5 years ago the average mortgage was three times salary. It is now 5 times, maybe 6. This takes up a lot of the disposable income that people used to spend on going racing. Technical changes that are made have not been significantly costly. The general trend for many racing series' is a reducing number of entrants, and i beleive this to be mainly due to this lack of disposable income. Many previous racers now have families, bought homes and settled down.

As far as allowing different rules for different people, if i were to build a car for any other single make racing, first thing you do, obtain the regs; work out what you need; calculate the cost. We may be shooting ourselves in the foot by promoting the club as budget racing. Maybe our focus should be on the profile of the club not necessarily on the performance of the cars.

Food for Thought.
