Please Read and Inwardly Digest!!!!

I am a little disappointed to hear of the allegations of cheating that are currently swirling around the club.

Lets look at the times from Donington last week and compare them to 2003 (the last time we raced there. The weather reports are very similar for both years

Fastest Laps at Donington
* = Gary Adnitt time used for comparison of engine
** = Mick Storey 2003 time is qualifying as he broke down on the first lap
                                                2005         2003                   Diff

Pete Sparrow      1:44.506   1:48.159*      3.653
Phil Myatt         1:44.690   1:49.456      4.766
Shaun McLaughlin      1:45.862
Mick Storey      1:46.470   1:47.713**   1.243
Pete Cardell-Williams      1:45.896   1:51.604      5.708
Wayne Cowling      1:46.223   1:48.123      1.900
Andy Smith         1:48.735
Matt Hollis         1:47.558
Sammie Fritchley      1:48.155   1:53.026      4.871
Steve Panas      1:48.867   1:49.826      1.535
Jon Davies         1:48.291   1:51.627      3.336
Richard Hollis      1:49.617   1:49.190      -0.427
Ben Allan         1:51.895
Tim Dodgson      1:52.046   1:52.474      0.428

So, with everyone except Richard Hollis who raced there in 2003 going considerably faster in 2005, are they all cheating??? I THINK NOT!!!!!

Please stop this petty bickering and backstabbing before it destroys our club

I think the cheating rumours are understandable and are probably attributable to the cam change.  Changing the technical envelope opens up all sorts of areas for renewed investigation.  Once the obvious areas have been tried then the more inventive, richer, more thoughtful people (take your pick!) will review what was accepted knowledge and see if they can get an advantage.  It is the joy and curse of motorsport and unless the club wants to go to a sealed engine formula with someone like Paul making a batch of 30 engines with mandatory carb settings etc. during the winter then it will be always the same.

Sadly I can't do Lydden due to a major shortage of funds but I'll see you all at Silverstone I hope.
