Located on the picturesque island of Anglesey in North Wales, Anglesey circuit held rounds 5 and 6 of this year's 2CVPARTS.COM 2CV championship. Somewhat unusually, the weather was glorious for the 2 day meeting, and the 2CVs put on 2 great races, with time for sunbathing in between!
Sammie Fritchley was on pole for race one, with Nick Paton lining up second, and Peter Rundle third. After 13 laps of the race on Saturday afternoon, the finishing order of the top two was reversed, with Paton taking the win from Fritchley by just over 3 tenths of a second. Rundle took the final podium spot after dicing for the lead all race.
Race two of the weekend was held after lunch on Sunday, with Nick Paton taking the top spot in qualifying. Neil Thompson lined up second on the grid, with Simon Turner third and Simon Clarke fourth. Clarke sadly retired from the race on lap 6 with what seemed like a loss of engine power, while Thompson and Paton and Turner battled for the lead for most of the race. With Paton dropping back after a half-spin at the Corkscrew corner, Thompson was left to stretch the gap between himself and the chasing pack, and won the race by 3.6 seconds - an unusually large gap in 2CV racing!
A particularly satisfying result for Neil Thompson, as it was his first race win!

Ten racing 2CVs attended Croft circuit in North Yorkshire on Thursday 2nd of May to test out a new exhaust system, designed to comply with Croft's noise limits.
All cars attending were fitted with twin silencer exhaust systems, with the exit placed on the offside rear. The test went very well, and a static noise test produced only 83-87 db.
It will now be a mandatory requirement to use this type of exhaust for the races at Croft this year.
If you need any help or advice with this, ask on the forum, or contact Philip Myatt.
